Will You Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions?

2016 is like all the past years and no New Year officially begins without the creation of New Year resolutions!  Millions come up with these gems at the beginning of each year and a lot of those folks also are probably like most of us and will fail to keep those resolutions.

We all have a comfort zone and we are all creatures of habit.  When things become uncomfortable, we feel like we just want to quit.  For example, clasp your hands together in whatever way feels most comfortable.  Notice which thumb is on top… is it the left or the right?

Now, clasp your hands the other way with the other thumb on top.  How does that feel?  For me, it feels different and uncomfortable.  It bothers me so much that as quick as I can, I will switch my hands back to where I feel comfortable.

The same is true is with New Year’s Resolutions.  The minute we start feeling uncomfortable, we want to stop, retreat, and go back.

This year, knowing that I need to be okay with being uncomfortable, I am hoping I will be able to make the changes that I want to make in my life.  For the past 12 months, I have tried to remain sugar-free and gluten-free.  I have exercised regularly, but… I have not lost weight.

Why?  Because I was willing to get uncomfortable with the exercise and the monitoring of the types of foods I ate, but I was not willing to get uncomfortable with one thing … limiting the quantities of my food intake.  Knowing that for me to have the results that I want, it will take me getting uncomfortable.  It is my intention this year to do whatever it takes no matter how uncomfortable I may become in hopes of achieving the healthy lifestyle that I want.

What resolutions have you made for the New Year?  Are you willing to get uncomfortable?  I’d like hear about yours.  Please share your comments with me.  I would love to hear from you!
